June 30, 2017The PETA International Science Consortium (PISC) awarded four VITROCELL in vitro exposure systems to researchers from institutions in the UK, US, and Belgium who are leading the development of non-animal methods to test the toxicity of airborne substances.
IIVS is grateful to PISC for donating the VITROCELL System for use in its new respiratory toxicology laboratory. The new lab provides non-animal testing services for evaluating potential respiratory hazards associated with novel ingredients and chemistries used in fragrances, personal care products, household and institutional cleaning...

June 19, 2017Nominations are now being accepted for the 2017 Lush Prize. The annual prize rewards initiatives across science and campaigning that work to end or replace animal testing, particularly in the area of toxicology research.

June 16, 2017The Canadian University of Windsor announces the opening of the Canadian Centre for Alternatives to Animal Methods , the first of its kind in the country. The center will work side-by-side with regulators, primarily Health Canada, and international consortia to expedite the development, validation, and acceptance of alternative toxicity testing methods in Canada.

June 14, 2017A bill has been reintroduced in the US House of Representatives that would ban cosmetic animal testing and prohibit the sale of products tested on animals. The Humane Cosmetics Act (HR 2790) – like a similar measure considered in the last session of Congress – was introduced with broad bipartisan support.
