GAITHERSBURG, MD – January 27, 2017 – The Institute for In Vitro Sciences (IIVS) is proud to announce its 20th anniversary as an international leader in the in vitro (non-animal) testing field. Founded in 1997, IIVS is unique in its position as a high quality testing laboratory while also offering technical and educational resources to increase the use and acceptance of non-animal methods. The Institute is commemorating its anniversary with a new website and the opening of a respiratory toxicology laboratory later this year.
Founding executives, Rodger Curren (CEO) and Erin Hill (President), started the Institute with a vision to increase the use and acceptance of non-animal testing worldwide. Their vision still drives the Institute today.
“Twenty years ago we envisioned an Institute based on science and providing industry with ethical and scientifically credible safety testing solutions,” said IIVS CEO, Rodger Curren. “I feel we have reached this goal and look forward to 20 more years of innovation and success.”
IIVS kicked off the year with a brand new website – www.iivs.org – designed to provide an enhanced user experience with improved navigation and functionality throughout. Visitors will find quick and easy access to information they need. The new site provides a valuable resource for IIVS clients, partners, and supporters.
This spring, the Institute will open its new respiratory toxicology laboratory. The state-of-the-art space will expand the Institute’s current output capacity while also providing IIVS with new inhalation-like exposure capabilities to augment its portfolio of non-animal methods.
“As we enter our 20th year, I am pleased that it coincides with our expansion into research and testing programs for respiratory toxicology,” said Erin Hill, IIVS President. “We look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with industry and regulators to identify predictive non-animal testing approaches.”
